LG Electronics has achieved its highest-ever financial performance for the second quarter, propelled by significant demand in sectors such as home appliances, vehicle components, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. The company announced a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, equivalent to $1.04 billion, marking a 146.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue surged by 14.9% to reach 23.83 trillion won, exceeding market predictions.
In the first half of the year, LG recorded new company highs with 47.56 trillion won in revenue and an operating profit of 3.25 trillion won. These record-breaking results were bolstered by increased sales across essential business segments, enhanced cost efficiency, the expansion of subscription services, growth in webOS, and a boost in online sales.
The primary growth drivers for LG remained its home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC divisions. A rise in demand for premium home appliances, automotive infotainment systems, and cooling solutions, especially during recent heatwaves in Europe, significantly contributed to the strong performance.
Furthermore, LG underscored its ongoing commitment to investing in future growth areas. This includes advancements in AI data center cooling technologies and the development of sophisticated robotics components, which the company sees as crucial for sustaining its growth momentum.
