Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, has reported a significant $238 million loss in the second quarter, marking a shift back to its core focus on social media. This development follows the company’s foray into cryptocurrency and other ventures. Despite the financial setback, the company saw its quarterly revenue more than double from the previous year, reaching $1.7 million.
Kevin McGurn, the new CEO, emphasized the firm’s renewed commitment to its primary social media platform while continuing to pursue selective projects. Among these is an anticipated merger with TAE Technologies, a company specializing in nuclear fusion. This strategic pivot highlights Trump Media’s efforts to streamline its operations and concentrate on its core competencies amid evolving market conditions.
In addition to its social media focus, Trump Media announced the launch of Truth API, a subscription service providing financial firms with early access to posts from Donald Trump and other prominent users of Truth Social. The service, priced between $60,000 and $100,000 monthly, has already secured 10 clients, mostly high-frequency trading firms seeking timely social media insights to inform their strategies.
Financially, the company reported holding over $400 million in cash and short-term investments by the end of the quarter. Additionally, it possesses approximately $1.2 billion in bitcoin and related assets. However, Trump Media is also managing around $1 billion in debt through convertible notes, which are set to mature in 2028. This financial landscape underscores the company’s efforts to balance its expansion endeavors with fiscal responsibility.
